Bilyonaryo Manny Pangilinan’s Maya is following the footsteps of its e-wallet rival, GCash, in sending in-app transaction notifications instead of text messages.

Maya announced that it will no longer send transaction-related text messages to a user’s mobile phone inbox beginning Monday (September 12).

All transaction confirmations will be sent via the Maya app covering money transfers to banks and other e-wallets, as well as purchases made from Maya’s online shop.

“To check if your transactions are successful, simply wait for the confirmation message to appear in the app itself,” it said.

GCash earlier announced it will move all notifications from text messages to its in-app inbox amid the proliferation of spam texts that recently included mobile phone user’s names.
