
The SEC received information that Filipino Family Club, through its officers, continues to “solicit donations from the public for its dubious humanitarian activities.
Among the company’s officers include Eduveges “Dong’ Batalan (president), Alfred “Alyssa Dee” Du (VP of Finance), Luanne Marieleise Penano (VP for Communication), Rachel “ACEY” Gutierrez (VP for PR and Maekting), Joncho “Yhama” Tan (executive secretary), Benedict Batalan (MIS manager, Rommel “Lemmor” Lafuente (media manager), Cesar de Guzman (corporate services manager) and Mary “Victoria” Sanvictores.
Filipino Family Club is offering premium to econo membership packages ranging from P250 to P5,000 as well as selling mechanise for a cause.
“Prior registration with the Commission does not automatically legitimize all activities of an entity especially if securing further licenses and/or permits are mandatory for their operations when circumstance or specific activities so warrant,” the SEC said.
“As always, the public is reminded to exercise due diligence when making
donations or contributions to charitable o
rganizations because sadly, unscrupulous
individuals are taking advantage of the generosity of the public especially during this pandemic for their own gain,” it pouted out.
SEC urged the public to be mindful of the tax consequences of giving such donations to entities unauthorized by law to solicit donations and the penalties for failing to course their donations through authorized channels and NGOs.
Marcos, who is also believed to be Norman Mangusin in real life, was earlier arrested by the National Bureau of Investigation for distributing eyeglasses without prior approval and permission from profession associations in violation of the revised Optometry Law of 1985.
He is also reportedly subject of pending complaints of estafa.
