The renowned Ibiza Beach Club at the Movenpick Hotel in Mactan, Cebu has been destroyed because of typhoon Odette.
Heavy rains and strong winds engulfed seaside structures in the province, while yachts docked nearby washed ashore due to violent waves. Palm trees have also been nearly denuded, with some branches landing on hotel room balconies.
Patrons of the hotel, as well as long-time staff workers, were saddened and horrified by the devastation.
Some employees also worry about the disaster’s impact on their jobs, as the Yuletide holidays were supposed to be a peak season for hotel bookings– until Odette happened.
