It’s important for the Kienle sisters to empower Filipino artisans and the work that they do.
Since Philux was recently tapped by none other than Louis Vuitton to do the interior design of the brand’s new flagship store in the Philippines, the two made sure they source from Filipino artists as well. One of these is Olivia d’Aboville who is a dear friend of Stephanie.
“She is widely known for her textile manipulation of handwoven Filipino textiles, with works ranging from textile jewelry to sculptures, to lighting designs and installation art. Olivia is very sensitive to light, fluidity, and movement, and tries to raise awareness of the importance of preserving the biodiversity of our seas. She is a kindred spirit,“ Stephanie Kienle Gonzalez spoke of Olivia.
Olivia specially created Fields of Color (Circular) for Louis Vuitton. “For this piece, she “pleated 12 meters of abaca polyester fabric handwoven from Cebu” and was “inspired by landscapes [from her] travels,” Stephanie wrote.
