Shakey’s Pizza Asia Ventures Inc. (PIZZA) is going full blast on the milk tea business with the opening of the first R&B milk tea outlet in the country.

In August 2020, PIZZA inked a master franchise agreement with Singapore’s Koufu Group Ltd. to sell R&B’s milk tea and other specialty tea drinks in select Shakey’s and Peri Peri Charcoal Chicken outlets.

PIZZA is now ready to open its first stand-alone store for R&B, one of Singapore’s leading milk tea brands with over 1,000 branches worldwide.

Company president and CEO Vicente Gregorio said the first branch, located in Retiro, Quezon City would be the first milk tea shop with a drive-through service in the country.

“For the past year, R&B has been leveraging PIZZA’s expansive store network and broad customer base to scale. The brand is performing better than expected, and we believe that it can accelerate further as we begin building its store network.”

Gregorio said the milk tea market has become a staple beverage among Filipino consumers.

PIZZA has been expanding its store footprint, opening 16 outlet in the first half to boost its network to 295.

“At Shakey’s, we are continuously pursuing store network expansion across all our food concepts. Expansion is a critical lever for growth, especially as we gear up for a reopening play. Our vision is to have a portfolio of industry-leading ‘WOW’ brands. Building a well-established store footprint is a key success factor to bring that vision to life,” Gregorio said.
