Minors and senior citizens aged 65 years and older can’t pack their bags just yet to go on vacation even as the National Capital Region (NCR) is shifting to a looser lockdown.

Tourism Secretary Bernadette Romulo-Puyat said residents who are below 18 and over 65 years old “shall not be permitted to leave their residences for the purpose of leisure travel” under Alert Level 4, which is NCR’s current lockdown status.

New guidelines released by the Inter-Agency Task Force on Emerging Infectious Diseases allow al fresco dining in restaurants, while indoor seats are reserved only for those fully vaccinated. Those trying to eat at hotels and facilities under DOT’s watch should also receive complete vaccine doses against COVID-19 as well.

Puyat welcomed the perks put in place for vaccinated residents.

“Allowing fully vaccinated guests to dine in restaurants located inside DOT-accredited hotels and restaurants will slowly help restart the economy while making sure all our tourism workers and guests are safe,” she said.
