Committee chair Sen. Richard Gordon and Senate President Tito Sotto signed the arrest warrant against Yang, Mohit Dargani, Twinkle Dargani, Krizle Grace U. Mago, Justine Garado, and Linconn Ong for contempt. They are ordered arrested “for unduly refusing to appear, despite due notices, at the hearings of the committee.”
The panel sent invitations for them to join the August 27 and September 7 meetings but did not show up. The senators took it as a way of “delaying, impeding and obstructing” the ongoing inquiry on the audit findings on the Department of Health, which included the purchase of billions of pesos worth of overpriced medical equipment from the company.
The Senate sergeant-at-arms has been directed to detain these individuals within the Senate premises in the next 24 hours until they give their testimony.
