Yang has been subpoenaed by the Senate Blue Ribbon Committee after a Radio Television Malacañang video showed him introducing officials of Pharmally International of Taiwan to the President in March 2017.

The Senate is currently investigating Pharmally’s local subsidiary which cornered P8.7 billion worth of overpriced face masks, shields, and testing kits during the pandemic.

The Pharmally contracts were signed by former Budget Undersecretary and Procurement Services chief Christopher Lloyd Lao who risked being charged for contempt for evading senators’ questions on what Senator Panfilo Lacson has described as “more than plunder but a large-scale corruption of borrowed state funds.”
